RECIPE IDEAS – HOW TO COOK WITH KIMCHI

Kimchi is an incredibly versatile food that can be used in numerous dishes including: kimchi pancake, kimchi fried rice, kimchi soup, kimchi sandwiches, kimchi taco, and more. I can provide recipes on all of these dishes as seen below:

Recipe: Kimchi Soup

Ingredients (in approximate grams):

  • 400 g kimchi
  • cooking oil
  • 100 g your choice of meat
  • salt
  • 1 green onion
  • rice, if desired

Instructions:

  1. Chop up approximately 400 grams Kimchi
  2. Heat up a small pot
  3. Add a small amount of cooking oil.
  4. Drop in the chopped Kimchi.
  5. Stir
  6. Add approximately 100 grams of your choice of meat
  7. Continue stirring until meat well done.
  8. Pour in one and a half cups of water.
  9. Cover the pot until boiling.
  10. Add chopped sausage and/or small cubes of tofu
  11. Add salt, if desired.
  12. After boiling, turn down temperature to medium and let simmer for a few minutes.
  13. Chop a green onion into four or five pieces and add those..
  14. Goes well when paired with rice.

Recipe: Fried Kimchi Rice

Ingredients (in approximate grams):

  • 350 grams kimchi
  • Half yellow onion
  • 75 grams of whatever meat desired
  • 400 grams rice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • sesame seeds
  • 100 grams mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. Chop up approximately 350 grams of Kimchi into small chunks
  2. Chop up one half of a yellow onion (approximately 200 grams)
  3. Chop up approximately 75 grams of whatever meat desired. (Tuna, beef, chicken, etc.)
  4. Cook the meat until well done, then add onions and Kimchi
  5. Decrease temperature to medium and continue to heat while stirring, until onions well cooked.
  6. Add 400 grams of rice and continue to mix.
  7. Add 1 tablespoon soy sauce, depending on taste.
  8. Turn off heat. Spread in 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
  9. Spread in a few pinches of sesame seeds, depending on taste.
  10. If desired, place in oven-safe container, top with 100 grams mozzarella cheese, and cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until cheese melts.
